It’s been really cold recently, hasn’t it?

“The first snow” refers to the first snowfall of the winter in that year.

In areas close to the mountains, snow has already accumulated heavily, but in urban areas like Tokyo, it is likely to snow more frequently from now on.
When it snows, there are risks of slipping and falling, or snow falling from roofs, which can be dangerous.
