“Juugoya”

2025/10/03

Do you know the word “Juugoya”?
Maybe you have heard of “Otsukimi” (moon viewing).
“Juugoya” is how Japanese people call the full moon night (the 15th day of the lunar calendar), which is the day for moon viewing.

Autumn is the season when the sky is the most beautiful, so the moon looks especially bright and clear.
On “Juugoya”, people in Japan have long enjoyed the custom of looking at the moon while eating dango (round rice dumplings).

This year, “Juugoya” falls on October 6th in the solar calendar.
On that night, why not look up at the sky?
