What to Do If You Get Sick in Japan
2025/11/04

When the seasons change, more people catch colds or start to feel unwell.
If you don’t feel well, don’t try to endure it — go to the hospital.
Bring your health insurance card or “My Number Card”, and tell the hospital reception,
“はじめて です” (It’s my first visit).
You will receive a medical questionnaire form.
Write down your name, address, and symptoms, then submit it to the reception.
When you meet the doctor, explain your symptoms clearly. For example:
• My throat hurts / it’s itchy.(のどが痛い/かゆい)
• I have a cough.(せきが出ます)
• I have a fever.(熱があります)
• I have a headache.(頭が痛いです)
• I feel dizzy.(目眩があります)
• I have a stomachache.(お腹が痛いです)
• I feel nauseous.(吐き気があります)
The weather is getting colder, so please take care and stay healthy!
