Enjoy the Flavors of Autumn in Japan
2026/09/04

It is still very hot, but September has arrived.
In Japan, we often use the phrase “autumn of appetite” to describe the fall season.
Autumn is a season with many delicious foods, such as sweet potatoes, chestnuts, persimmons, and Pacific saury.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan, foods have a season called “shun,” which is the time of year when they are at their best.
In autumn, convenience stores and supermarkets also have more snacks and sweets made with sweet potatoes, chestnuts, and pumpkins.
In Japan, you can enjoy the changing seasons through food.
We hope you enjoy some of Japan’s delicious autumn flavors this fall!
