What is Sokuon?

Sokuon refers to the small “っ” in Japanese. It creates a brief pause in pronunciation, making the preceding sound feel momentarily stopped.

Examples:

きて(来て): kite (to come) — きって(切手): kitte (postage stamp)

さか(坂): saka (slope) — さっか(作家): sakka (writer)

Let’s watch the video and practice pronunciation together!.
